Global Emergency Location Beacons.
Organizations such as the U.K. Royal Navy, the U.S. Coastguard and leading commercial shipping companies around the world understand the importance of faultless equipment. That's why they've chosen McMurdo products for their vessels and their crew. It’s also why Digital Angel acquired McMurdo in April of 2007.
Established in the United Kingdom, McMurdo has been developing industry-leading emergency location beacons and NAVTEX technology since 1937. In 1992, it released the first Global Maritime Distress and Safety System-approved Search and Rescue Transponder (SART). In 2000, a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) was created for use on land, sea or air. That same year, Global Positioning System (GPS) technology was introduced to both the Emergency Positioning Indicating Rescue Beacon (EPIRB) and the PLB.
McMurdo products are used around the world on land, sea and in the air. Individuals, businesses and governments investing in safety have a record of investing in McMurdo’s growing array of emergency location devices.
